Milford & Doubtful Sound

Amazing weather continued as we traveled from Queenstown down to Te Anau which was a home base for exploring Milford and Doubtful Sound in Fiorldland National Park. They are both amazing places where the freshwater rivers pour into long fingers coming off the ocean. This creates about a 75ft layer of fresh water on top of the salt water. The mountains come straight up out of the water and go well over 4000ft above the sea below. We were able to sea kayak around in Doubtful Sound and our group of 10 was the only ones on the water. So peaceful (besides the occasional attack of a protective Seagull)! It was a much needed day to get out of the car and enjoy God's beautiful creation!

  1. Looks neat! We shared the photos with Pin & Zerg--they agreed that the landscape looks like the mountains of Mordor from Lord of the Rings!
